A Lot of Resistance Picked Up on Moving This Line
Notre Dame was seeing almost all the early action as an -11.5 favorite so we would expect to see the line stay on -11.5. On average, 70% of the action was on the Fighting Irish. So far we are seeing most books hang onto -11 as of Thursday night. The number opened at -8.5 some books. Bookmaker was even holding the number at -10.5. There is some indication that the books believe USC can cover here with so much early action on Notre Dame.
The home team has won the last five in this series.
Sagarin, we should note, indicates the line should be -12 for Notre Dame, so we are a little surprised the books are being this aggressive holding the line with so much action on the Irish.
The money line for Notre Dame requires a $50 bet to win $10, but the Irish are 71-13 Straight Up since 1992 as a favorite of 10.5 to 21 points while the Trojans are 1-8 Against The Spread over the past three seasons as an underdog.
