We would expect the line moves to lessen as the season progresses and teams become more set in their ways. That hasn’t happened and we’ve witnessed a number of moves on the Week 11 college football slate of games.
The Mountain West Conference matchup between San Diego State and UNLV shifted 4.5-points in favor of the Aztecs and several others moved by a field goal. Oddsmakers have been steadfast in not moving lines around the key numbers of 3 and 7, though. Most of the moves have been the usual ½- to 1-point fluctuations that are more an indication of public money coming in on one side.

Clemson at Boston College
Opening Line: Clemson -17
Current Line: Clemson -20
This might be Clemson’s toughest test of the season as they hit the road to take on the Eagles. But it doesn’t matter who stands in front of Dabo Swinney’s group, they’re likely to get steamrolled anyway. The Tigers have been the most dominant team in the country over the last month, yes, even more so than Alabama. They’ve won each of their last four games by at least 34 points with a margin of 60 or more twice while outscoring Wake Forest, NC State, Florida State and Louisville 240-36. Take that Nick Saban. Clemson was a 38-point favorite last week against the Cardinals and still covered the spread by over three touchdowns. The betting public has taken notice, backing Clemson with over 65 percent of the early action causing a 3-point spike in the line. And it could go higher before kickoff.
SMU at Connecticut
Opening Line: SMU -17
Current Line: SMU -19.5
Sonny Dykes has the Pony Express up and running in Dallas. Many were questioning whether Dykes was the guy for the job when SMU dropped its first three with a loss to North Texas tossed in there. The Ponies turned things around and they got a signature win last week over No. 17 Houston for their fourth win in six games. And that loss to the Mean Green doesn’t look so bad now that they are 7-2. That win over the Cougars certainly gave SMU some street cred and it helped with the line move. As did UConn’s recent form. The Huskies have dropped six straight and they haven’t been close. Their only win came against FCS Rhode Island in Week 3, and that was just by a touchdown. SMU got slammed with 88 percent of the early money forcing the spike in the line.
UNLV at San Diego State
Opening Line: San Diego State -18
Current Line: San Diego State -22.5
The biggest line move of the week so far has come in this game with the Aztecs moving from -18 to -22 on the college football betting line in the span of about 24 hours. And if you’ve watched the Rebels play lately, you would be jumping all over SDSU too. It didn’t help that UNLV starting quarterback Armani Rogers went down in the fourth game of the season and hasn’t played since. But he’s doesn’t play defense, and apparently no one else on the team does either. The Rebels were 2-2 before MWC play began and that’s when the roof caved in. They are 0-5 in league play and have surrendered more than 40 points in each game. Three times opponents hung half a hundy on them, including San Jose State, which ranks No. 113 in the FBS in scoring, ouch. The Aztecs are still in the hunt for the MWC West title and have a showdown with Fresno State in two weeks. The Bulldogs just annihilated the Rebels last week, 48-3, and the Aztecs need a win to make that game meaningful for their chances.
