BetonSports customers can, for the first time, thank the US Government for actually coming through for them.

Following the forfeiture of $43.65 million in proceeds from Gary Kaplan, founder of BetonSports, customers who thought they would never see their money again after that company shut its doors in July 2006 may finally get refunded.

The government's official notice that anyone who thinks they may have a legal claim to the money can file a written petition to the federal court in St. Louis. (The notice is filed on forfeiture.gov : ABOUT FORFEITURE.GOV)

Gary Kaplan will be sentenced on October 27. Under a deal struck between prosecutors and his attorneys, he faces between 41 and 51 months in federal prison.

Kaplan was arrested more than two years ago after being found in the Dominican Republic.  His BetonSports was the largest online sportsbook catering to the North American market comprising six floors of the Mall San Pedro in Costa Rica.
