Saturday Night NFL Preseason Betting Preview - Week 1 2018

Week 1 of the NFL Preseason schedule will wrap up with a pair of games on Saturday night. Below is a quick preview of those two games that will take place on Saturday, August 11.  Gambling911.com has all your betting odds courtesy of YouWager here *These free plays not counted as part of G911 record

Denver Broncos vs. Minnesota Vikings +1

The Broncos and Vikings will open up the 2018 preseason schedule with a clash at Mile High Stadium in Denver. The Broncos come into this game as a small favorite at -1 over the Vikings. Minnesota came out of nowhere last season to finish at 13-3 and participated in the NFC Championship Game. The Broncos took a big step backwards last season, finishing in last place in the AFC West at 5-11

The Vikings should be strong again in 2018, but they will have a different quarterback at the helm. Minnesota brought in Kirk Cousins to lead the team on offense this season, after Case Keenum played well last year. Cousins will make his debut behind a depleted offensive line, as many lineman are out with injury for this game. Cousins will likely appear in just one or two series to avoid injury.

Broncos head coach Vance Joseph has already stated that his starters will only appear in the first two series in this game. Linebacker Von Miller will start the game for the Broncos, after sitting out the first two preseason games for the Broncos a season ago. The third team will likely play most of the second half for the Broncos, and they will be auditioning for a roster spot.

The Vikings are the more experienced team and should defeat the Broncos in the preseason opener. Bet the Vikings +1 at Youwager in this game.

Arizona Cardinals -2.5 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers will travel to Arizona to battle the Cardinals on Saturday night. The Chargers are expected to contend for a playoff spot in the AFC West this season, after finishing just one game behind the Chiefs last season. Arizona finished 8-8 last season, in third place in the NFC West, but the division should be much improved this season.

The Chargers have a few interesting position battles taking place this offseason. Cardale Jones and Geno Smith are in a tight battle for the backup quarterback position, and both should get extensive playing time on Saturday night. Caleb Sturgis and Roberto Aguayo are also battling for the place kicking job for the Chargers this season. These two battles should give the Chargers some motivation on Saturday.

The Cardinals will be debuting two quarterbacks on Saturday night. Sam Bradford will be the starting quarterback while rookie Josh Rosen will get a large share of the playing time. The Cardinals should feature a strong defense in 2018, but many of those players will only appear briefly in this game.

The position battles should give the Chargers a slight edge in this game. Look for the Chargers +2.5 to win the game outright on Saturday night. You can find the best preseason NFL lines at Youwager.

NFL betting used to be built mostly around teams. Bettors looked at spreads, totals, moneylines, injuries, weather and coaching matchups. Those pieces are still there, but the modern football betting board is much more player-driven than it used to be.
