The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi was set to open its new sports book at Noon Wednesday (August 1).

Mississippi approved sports wagering last month and the casinos located there haven't wasted any time capitalizing, though mobile wagering will still only be available at internationally-licensed sports book sites.  The Magnolia State has no intention of offering Internet sports betting beyond the casino properties.

On hand to place the first bets at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino will be:

Robert Royal, former Louisiana State Tigers tight end and NFL star

Legendary oddsmaker Danny Sheridan

Mississippi Hotel and Hospitality Association Executive Director Larry Gregory, who also is former director of the Mississippi gaming Commission

GoldStrike Tunica will open its sports book at Noon as well Wednesday.

IP Casino in Biloxi and Sam’s Town in Tunica are hoping to have their sports book up and running in the next two weeks.

Local bookies and international sports betting sites are hopeful that those visiting the Mississippi sports books will use their respective sites to compare and find better odds on local College Football teams like the Rebels, Bulldogs and Tigers.  Due to high demand for these and a few other teams, including the Crimson Tide, the Tunica and Biloxi establishments are likely to offer less attractive odds.
