The man who changed the face of poker, Chris Moneymaker, will be saluted at the Stone's Gambling Hall in Sacramento, California August 4 and 5.
This is being billed as a special event to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Chris Moneymaker’s historic win.
His 2003 win is said to have revolutionized poker because he was the first person to become a world champion after qualifying at an online poker site. This has been referred to in the press as the "Moneymaker Effect".
Day 1a | Saturday August 4th | 10am
$86 Buy in ($60 + $13 entry + $13 staff) 5,000 Chips
- 20 minute levels through registration, and 25 minute levels after. Unlimited re-entry for first 8 levels.
- Big Blind ante structure.
- Day 1a will play down to the final 9 players. Once 9 players are reached, they will bag up and return the following evening for day 2.
Day 1b | Sunday August 5th | 10am

- 20 minute levels through registration, and 25 minute levels after. Unlimited re-entry for first 8 levels
- Big Blind ante structure
- Day 1b will play down to the final 9 players. Once 9 players are reached, Day 1b players will re-draw seats and combine with Day 1a players to immediately begin Day 2.
Day 2 | Sunday August 5th | PM start time TBA
- Day 2 will start with 18 players (the final 9 from Day 1a and the final 9 from Day 1b). Play will continue until only 1 player is left. Once 9 players are reached, a break will be taken to update chip counts for the live stream. The final 9 players will then continue play until only one player remains and the $30,000 PokerStars package is awarded.
Entry Details
The top 15% of each days field will be paid a min cash of $172, with the exception of the final 9 players from each days field. The remainder of the prize money will be reserved for Day 2, to be distributed between 2nd and 18th place. 1st place will not receive any of the prize money but will be awarded a $30,000 prize package to the PokerStars event.
