Hollywood Celeb, Poker Pro James Woods Dumped by Agent Over Political Views

James Woods is now perhaps the most recognizable celebrity poker pro on the planet.  He's part of a relatively small community of big name Hollywood stars that have become regulars on the poker circuit the likes of Jennifer Harmon, Shannon Elizabeth, "Welcome Back Kotter" star Gabe Kaplan, and 'Bride of Chucky' star Jennifer Tilly, just to name a few.

None of the later are more controversial than Woods.  Earlier this year, the 71-year-old actor was not-so-subtly accused of some type of sexual improprieties by "Weeds" star Elizabeth Perkins.  She marched with a sign that read “James Woods #MeToo”, seemingly implying that Woods was among a few dozen offenders tied to Hollywood and the business community.  Fellow poker star Daniel Negreanu then lashed out at Woods even though the sign has yet to be fully explained.

Woods didn't take Negreanu's outburst laying down, calling the Canadian pro "a piece of shit".

Now comes word that Woods agent has unceremoniously dumped him over his outspoken political views.

The Hollywood actor, a devout supporter of US President Donald Trump, went on to call his now former agent, Ken Kaplan, "a political liberal" in his tweets confirming the breakup.

Kaplan, who has represented Woods for nearly ten years, wrote in an email: "It's the 4th of July and I'm feeling patriotic. I don't want to represent you anymore. I mean I could go on a rant but you know what I'd say."

Unlike his reaction to Negreanu, Woods did take the high road in responding to Kaplan.

"My response," Woods wrote. "'Dear Ken, I don't actually. I was thinking if you're feeling patriotic, you would appreciate free speech and one's right to think as an individual. Be that as it may, I want to thank you for all your hard work and devotion on my behalf. Be well."

Indeed, the "Videodrome" and "Casino" star should be feeling pretty good these days.

He took first place just the other day in the 2018 Dog Days of Summer - Poker Jam $ 585 H.O.R.S.E. - Championship (Event #24), winning a cool $14,570.  He also cashed in two World Series of Poker events this past month.
