A bookmaker has donated £50,000 to fight homophobia in football after Russia’s 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia, having promised a contribution of £10,000 for each goal scored.  Of course they didn’t expect Russia to score the most goals of this year’s World Cup thus far.  SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE

Paddy Power, known for their unique and sometimes controversial marketing campaigns, made the generous offer coniciding with a depiction of Russian President Vladimir Putin donned in lipstick.

He also has dyed pink hair and eye liner.

The Paddy Power statement read: “Thanks to that goal we’ve paid £10,000 to help tackle homophobia in football.”

The offer is extended throughout the tournament but will exclude penalty shootouts.  Own goals also will be rewarded.

The payout is being done in conjunction with Attitude magazine’s Foundation.
