With 75% of the action on the Astros in Minnesota, one has to wonder why the oddsmakers aren't moving the line from say -145 to -165.
The books appear to be liking the Twins here, this despite the fact that Houston has won eight of the last ten in this series. They are also the reigning World Series champs. So priced at -145, we're surprised more gamblers aren't eating them up.
Minnesota is 15-6 in their last 21 home games, however, though we’d be remiss in failing to point out that the Astros are 11-1 in Justin Verlander’s last 12 starts.
Verlander overcame a pair of homers in his last outing to carry an eight-game regular-season winning streak into Monday's game while Twins RH Lance Lynn allowed five runs in the first inning versus Pittsburgh his last start.
-145? Really?
Lynn has posted just one victory in his last 10 appearances despite five quality starts in that span. He's due for a win here whereas Verlander is due for a loss, so seems the bookmakers mindset across the board. Minnesota should come out on top in this situation especially when we consider their very good home record. And, no, we don't care that the Astros won their last six games at Minnesota.
