Giant killer UMBC put up a good fight but failed to advance to the Sweet 16 after becoming the first number 16 seed to take down a number 1 seed (Virginia) Friday night. While UMBC failed to advance, a number of upsets did occur this weekend, mostly on Sunday.
Number 11 Loyola Chicago was among the lower seeds advancing to the Sweet 16.
Number 11 Syracuse, number 7 Nevada, number 7 Texas A&M, and number 5 Clemson.
