PA Plans on Making Online Poker Licenses Available in April

A general timeline has been presented to debut online poker in the Keystone State of Pennsylvania with licenses scheduled to be available some time in April.

Gambling expansion in the state is set to include online poker, lotteries, casino games, as well as 10 satellite casinos, approved tablet gambling and  Video gambling terminals at truck stops.

There will be a 120-day window for Pennsylvania’s land-based casinos to apply for the available operator licenses.

One of Pennsylvania's casino properties now has a new owner, as reported by Gambling911.com last week.

Las Vegas Sands Corp. is selling its casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to an American Indian tribe from Alabama.

Sands Bethlehem's current owner has come out against legalized online gambling in the United States.  Tribes such as the Seminoles have expressed a keen interest in capitalizing on the sector.

Harrah's Philadelphia, on the other hand, already has a foothold in online gambling.  Its parent company, Caesars Entertainment, has active partnerships with 888 (Harrah’s and 888 Casino) and NYX Gaming (Caesars online casino) to provide a platform for online casino games.

Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh is owned by Rush Street Gaming, which already runs the SugarHouse online casino under the Golden Nugget license in neighboring New Jersey.

Parx launched a GAN-powered social casino in early 2015 and, at least for the time being, intend to utilize GAN exlusively as a means to offer online gambling in the state.

“Throughout the multi-year term of the agreement, Parx Casino will rely exclusively on GameAccount Network’s Internet gaming system, deployed on-property in Pennsylvania, for all forms of real money Internet gaming (including poker, for the avoidance of doubt) in the event the State of Pennsylvania enacts legislation to regulate real money Internet gaming.”
