The poker community continued to be in shock this New Year's Day with the unexpected announcement that the biggest female money earner in the game will be retiring from it.
Vanessa Selbst made the shock declaration New Year's Eve morning citing a desire to move on with her life. Selbst intends to join a hedge fund.
It was just a few months ago that Selbst and controversial poker player Mike "The Mouth" Matusow engaged in a bitter Twitter fued whereby Selbst referred to Matusow as a "pathetic human being" over comments he made in support of alleged sex predator and former Hollywood studio mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Matusow on Sunday wished Selbst the best and in returned she "liked" his tweet.
Gambling911.com favorite Doug Polk also chimed in via Twitter.
While the well wishes from big name pros were plentiful, up-and-comers like the individual below (DL) expressed how Selbst had inspired him and others.
