What Kinds of People Play on Bingo Sites?

If we think about the kinds of people that play on bingo sites, you may have a stereotype in mind. It’s easy to generalise and believe that the profile of these players would fall into this stereotype, but new research has found that this may not be the case.

Who are Bingo Players?

Bingo players, unsurprisingly are mainly women, with 75% of regular players identifying as female. This leaves male players in the minority, which is pretty much what you would expect as they tend to gravitate towards casinos. The 25% figure of men is actually a little higher than what some people would thing, as it’s very rare to see this gender represented to highly in bingo halls.

Why do they Play?

Surprisingly enough, playing bingo isn’t all about the motivation to win money, as many people use it for other purposes too. Almost half of players cited playing bingo as a relaxing hobby, helping to alleviate stress. This is a pretty large proportion and the idea of winning real money is secondary to this perk.

Among the factors that have these players coming back for more, we also find convenience as a major contributor. With bingo sites like www.wtgbingo.com allowing users to access from their tablet or smartphone, it’s no wonder that this has become vastly more popular than trailing out to a bingo hall to play.

We also expect a certain level of free features when we play online, bonuses and free spins are pretty common online. This means that players are accustomed to receiving these kinds of free perks just for signing up.

The Personality of Players

When it comes to the personality of these players, one study found out who they were using the Myers Briggs test. These players have been assessed using this standard personality test and the results might just shock you. These players tipped the scale with 60% of them believing they were ‘big picture’ people rather than focusing on the small stuff.

So what does this mean? It could relate to the fact that even when players are losing in a single game, they may be more aware of the overall wins that they had. This may mean they’re more likely to come back and play, even when others are feeling like they would be unlucky.

60% of the players polled also stated that they were logical thinkers, rather than being emotional or driven by their heart. This is another interesting statement, as we may expect that these players would be quite impulsive.

The Age of Players

The age of these online gamers was incredibly mixed, with no single demographic coming out on top. They have been getting younger on average too, another symptom of the online game reaching out to players. Within bingo halls, the majority of those that play are a bit older, with the game generally being seen as a pursuit of the elderly. This could all change in the future too, as bingo halls target younger people with more disposable income to play.

This has been an interesting look into the world of bingo and its players, which may be useful for gambling insiders in the future. This is a study that has given us valuable insight into the world of gambling as we know it, it will be interesting to find out how this changes in the future.
