Spain v. USA odds for the Confederations Cup Semi-Final were available heading into Wednesday night's showdown from Sportingbet.com (non US residents) and SBG Global (US customers welcome).

The odds had Spain at -450 and the USA paying a whopping US$900 for every US$100 bet at Sportingbet

Dave Higgins of Betting Pro writes:

"It's quite remarkable that the United States are in the final four of the Confederations Cup after defeats to Italy (3-1) and Brazil (3-0). The organisers must have expected their final group game against Egypt to probably be a dead rubber, although goals from Charlie Davies, Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey helped produce a six-goal swing to set up a semi-final against the European champions."

And the prediction from the Bleecher Report:

"Spain have looked largely untroubled in the tournament, and indeed, in most of their international fixtures of late. Their brilliant retention and usage of possession in their matches has almost made some of their victories look effortless.

"With the Spanish team in fine form and strikers Fernando Torres and David Villa hungry for more goals, the USA's good fortune may soon run out when they face the European Champions in this semi-final match.

"The US will undoubtedly put up a good fight in this encounter, but Spain will enter the match as heavy favourites to book a spot in the final against either Brazil or South Africa.

"Spain vs USA Prediction: Spain 3 - USA 0"
