Global Poker Announces Charity Tournament to Benefit Hurricane Harvey and Irma Refugees

Global Poker, a new online poker room, has announced a benefit online poker tournament for those of us impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.  Gambling911.com has had to relocate its content production to Chicago as a result of Irma though we are happy to report that power has now been restored to our Miami Beach facilities.

  • Global Poker is open to the fact that most of their better ideas come from their players
  • This week was no different. When regular forum contributor ‘splayaa’ suggested that Global Poker hold a charity tournament to raise funds for Americans affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma the Global Poker team immediately jumped into action
  • This Sunday September 17 Global Poker will be holding a charity tournament to help raise money for those affected by this week’s tragic weather events
  • Starting at 16:30 EST the “Global Poker - Hurricane Harvey and Irma - Charity Tournament” is an easy and unique way for you to support a good cause and help those in need whilst playing some poker
  • The tournament has a buy in of SC$5 + SC$5 with all proceeds being donated to the American Red Cross Relief Appeal
  • As an incentive to make your donation count even more, Global Poker will be significantly adding to the donation pool. In fact, for every player who registers, Global Poker will donate $25. That means each player's contribution is actually multiplied by 5!
  • These two Hurricanes have left major damage over large parts of America with Texas and Florida taking the brunt of the damage
  • Laurence Escalante, the Founder and CEO of VGW (aka the guy behind Global Poker) is excited by the opportunity to work with the player base to do their part for a good cause
  • “The world watched with shock as Hurricanes Harvey and Irma wreaked havoc over large parts of America, particularly Florida and Texas,” Laurence said.
  • “Reports estimate that the damage bill could be as high as $200 Billion
  • “Americans are known the world over for their strong sense of compassion and their desire to help their fellow man, we remember that particularly this week both with these Hurricanes and with the remembrance of Patriots Day
  • “Global Poker is proud to work with our players to contribute to the relief effort
  • “I would personally like to show my support for all those who have gone above and beyond to help those in need during this time,” Laurence concluded
  • Make sure you head to Global Poker and register for the charity tournament today
  • If you would like to make a donation direct to the American Red Cross or read about their relief effort head to redcross.org
