The mudders can step aside as weather conditions at Monmouth Park for Sunday’s Haskell Invitational will be amazing for a late June afternoon/early evening with plenty of bright sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s.

Irish War Cry will pay out $50 for every $20 bet, Timeline $30 for every $10 bet, Practical Joke $60 for every $10 bet, Battle of Midway $60 for every $10 bet, McCracken $70 for every $10 bet, Hence $200 for every $10 bet and Girvin for every $200 bet.

“Yeah, no pressure, right?” trainer Graham Motion said after the draw that placed his horse Irish War Cry on the rail.

“We're very excited to be here. The Haskell was always our goal for the summer with Irish War Cry.”

Could the horse with the second shortest odds, Timeline, be this year’s Arrogate?

He’s the less accomplished of trainer Chad Brown’s two Haskell entrants, with Practical Joke the only Grade 1 winner in the field. But Timeline is unbeaten.

"We’re just taking it one race at a time. The Haskell is a tall order," said Brown last week. "The horse is very talented. He’s undefeated. He’s a really, really nice horse. I do think he is up to the challenge."

McCracken, meanwhile, finished 8th in the Kentucky Derby but his trainer is convinced he could prove the skeptics wrong at this year’s Haskell Invitational.

"It was tough," trainer Ian Wilkes said of his horse. "With the Derby having as big of a following as it does, you feel like you let a lot of people down. I know it's racing, and these things happen, but you still feel like you didn't quite get the job done that you should have gotten done."
