1084 Return for 2017 WSOP Main Event Friday: The Big Name Survivors

1084 players remain after a field of 7,221 entered this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event.

The money bubble finally burst a little after 1 a.m. local time.

Patrick Lavecchia of Sellersville, Pennsylvania, has the overall lead with 1.552 million chips when resumes at the Rio Convention Center at 11 a.m. PST Friday.

In 2nd place, Poland’s Pawel Brzeski with 1.546 million chips played down his high chip count.

“Of course it feels nice to be second in chips, but we still have more than 1,000 people left, so it doesn’t mean much,” Brzeski told WSOP.com. “But I guess more chips is more life in tournaments. I can lose some flips and still be alive, so that’s always nice.”

Recognizable names still in play included Chino Rheem, Allen Cunningham, Matt Glantz, Liv Boeree, Gavin Smith, Isaac Haxton, Melanie Weisner, Scotty Nguyen, David Benyamine, Barry Boatman, Phil Galfond, Erik Seidel, Joe Cada, Carlos Mortensen, Dutch Boyd, Jeff Shulman, Kathy Liebert, Barry Greenstein, Doug Polk, Johnny Chan, Greg Raymer, Jason Mercier, Todd Witteles and Mike Matusow,
