Reid In, Dorsey Out as GM With Chiefs: 2017 Odds Report

Andy Reid has signed a contract extension but the news was not so good for GM John Dorsey as the Kansas City Chiefs will part ways with him.

The signing of Reid, 59, was expected. The move with Dorsey, 56, who arrived in Kansas City as general manager in 2013 a few weeks after Reid, was surprising, ESPN.com’s Adam Teacher noted.

Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt said he made the decision not to extend Dorsey's contract beyond the 2017 season.

"After consideration, we felt it was in his best interests and the best interests of the team to part ways now," Hunt said in a statement. "This decision, while a difficult one, allows John to pursue other opportunities as we continue our preparations for the upcoming season and the seasons to come.''

It was not immediately known how this move might affect the organization though the team has enjoyed a dramatic turnaround under the Reid/Dorsey tandem.

Earlier this month, the Chiefs opted to part ways with one of their top players, Jeremy Macklin.

Kansas City had the second shortest odds of winning what is expected to be a competitive AFC West division with a payout potential set at $22.50 for every $10 bet or $225 for every $100 bet.  The Oakland Raiders were the +160 favorites to win.

The Chiefs were favored to win at least 10 regular season games as well.
