Absolute Poker Co-Founder Pleads Guilty to Single Misdemeanor

Absolute Poker co-founder Tom Scott has pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor that will likely result in no prison time.

Scott, who had been on the lam and finally returned to the U.S. in February, was named in an April 2011 indictment, commonly referred to as “Black Friday” due to the day of the week the charges were announced.

The charges included conspiracy to violate the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, violation of the UIGEA and illegal gambling.  Each charge could have resulted in up to five years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.

Instead, Tom pleading guilty to a single misdemeanor count of accessory after the fact in connection with the transmission of gambling information on May 31, according to court documents.

Sentencing is anticipated in the end of September.
