Who Wants to be a Millionaire? 2017 WSOP Millionaire Maker Gets Underway

One of the most anticipated World Series of Poker events, the $1500 No Limit Hold’em Millionaire Maker, was set to get underway Sunday night.

2013 Main Event champ Ryan Riess of Clarkston, MI told the Detroit Free Press that the Millionaire Maker is “the best value of the summer WSOP circuit” because of the “modest buy-in structure and the potential for a huge payout”.

While the 1st place prize was yet to be determined as of this writing, last year’s winner took home a cool $1,065,403.  It was also the first time in this history of this event that the 2nd place winner walked away with a million dollars as well.

Like last year, the field is expected to be massive.

“It’s hard to get through these big fields,” said last year’s winner, then 32-year-old Jason DeWitt of Decatur, Georgia. “I usually play just no-limit and pot-limit and they draw the biggest fields. So it’s not surprising that it would take so long to get back here again. I mean, these fields are so big. To win a tournament with a 7,000-player field is just insane. It’s just incredible."

This is one of the most popular events leading up to the WSOP Main Event in July.  One can qualify for the Main Event online here.
