Is it finally time for Classic Empire to shine in this year’s Triple Crown?

Neither Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming or Preakness Stakes winner Cloud Computing will be entering the third leg of the Triple Crown.

Classic Empire finished 2nd in the Preakness Stakes after a 3rd place victory in the Kentucky Derby.  One has to wonder how much more gas Classic Empire has in the tank after running three races in such a short period of time.

“We’re as excited as you can be coming into a race,” said Norman Casse, son of Classic Empire’s trainer Mark Casse. “We’ve got the big dog coming into this fight. We’ll have the bull’s-eye on our back; we understand that.”

The good news for Classic Empire is that nobody comes close in the field as far as the odds go.

The next shortest odds belong to Irish War Cry at near 7-1, a nonfactor in the Kentucky Derby, and Lookin At Lee, who did finish 2nd in the Derby ahead of Classic Empire and skipped the Preakness.  Lookin At Lee is also at 7-1 odds.
