Thunder Snow was seeing a quarter of the overall action while Churchill had attracted nearly 60 percent of the action among the field.

Trainer Aiden O'Brien said Sunday: "It looks like Churchill will go for the Irish Guineas, and Lancaster Bomber (fourth at Newmarket) could go with him. I'd say it's very unlikely that Churchill will go for the Derby."

He’s definitely the horse to beat at 3/1 odds but there are other Irish 2000 Guineas contenders, including Thunder Snow with the potential to pay out big US$100 for every US$10 bet.

Prognosticators have backed off this horse, however, after his refusal to run the Kentucky Derby.

Marissa Payne of the Washington Post writes of Thunder Snow:

The straggler, an Irish-bred colt named Thunder Snow, seemed to mistake the race for a rodeo as he pranced and tried to buck his jockey off his back.

Michael Halford, writing for the Racing Post, likes Irishcorrespondent’s chances as the horse with the second shortest odds (5/1):

He proved far too good for his rivals at the Curragh with a facile success earlier this month, announcing himself as a genuine contender for this Saturday's Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas.

In the end though, everything seems to revert back to Churchill in what will be the smallest 2,000 Guineas field since Doyoun's victory in 1988.

"I've always loved Churchill. He's very easy to like because he's so relaxed and straightforward. Everybody seems to be very happy with him and he looks great," rider  Seamie Heffernan said. "He's a very confident horse. We always thought a lot of him and rated him highly so nothing really surprised me about him the day I won on him at the Curragh.

"I was very impressed with him and he could not have done it any easier. He relaxes during his races and makes everything easy."

Here are all your contenders:

Churchill 1/3

Irishcorrespondent 5/1

Thunder Snow 10/1

Lancaster Bomber 10/1

Orderofthegarter 16/1

War Decree 20/1

Glastonbury Song 20/1

Spirit of Valor 25/1

Pipes Of Peace 100/1
