Some books had Sonneteer at 20-1 odds of winning the 2017 Kentucky Derby. Our friends at US Racing had him at 50-1 odds for a potential $500 payout on a $10 bet.
Sonneteer finished a decent 4th at the Arkansas Derby, the last of the Kentucky Derby prep races and 2nd in his previous race, the Rebel Stakes.
Still, he is yet to win a race. In fact, Sonneteer is 0-10.
The last time a maiden won the Kentucky was back in 1933, when a horse named Broker's Tip did it, notes Jerry Izenberg of the Newark Star Ledger.
