McCraken had 9-1 odds of winning the 2017 Kentucky Derby, offering some early value ahead of the post position draw.
Named after a Kansas town, McCraken should see an unusual amount of betting action out of this state.
We could see the odds on McCraken shift dramatically should rain be in the forecast Saturday as he won in the mud of the Jockey Club Stakes back in November.
He has also performed exceptionally well at Churchill Downs. McCraken was undefeated through his first four races, including three races at Churchill Downs.
Remarkably though McCraken had the 4th shortest odds as of Monday morning.
McCraken is Whitham Thoroughbreds’ first horse to qualify for the Kentucky Derby. Clay Whitham said having a horse run in the Kentucky Derby is a dream for any owner.
