Our 2009 Stanley Cup Finals betting preview had the SBG Global Opening Line: Red Wings  -  165 ,  Total  6 Under - 130

For the first time since 1983-84 the Stanley Cup Finals feature a rematch as the Detroit Red Wings face the Pittsburgh Penguins. Detroit will try and repeat their success of last season and become the first team to repeat since 1997-98. It will not be easy for Detroit since Pittsburgh looks superior to last year as Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have been dominant, combining for 26 goals and 30 assists in their 17 playoff games.

SBG Global reports that early Hockey betting has the public taking  Penguins on the Road.

The Stanley Cup Finals could be high scoring with Detroit having the #1 offense in the NHL this season while the Penguins have the two leading scorers. The matchup in goal is the same as it was a year ago. Chris Osgood has better numbers in the playoffs than Marc-Andre Fleury but it is close.

There are two big keys for Detroit in this series. The first is their health. Niklas Lidstrom is expected to return for this series as is Pavel Datsyuk. For the Red Wings to win this series they will need both players at full strength. The second issue for the Red Wings is the schedule.  The NHL is forcing the teams to play back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday and that is not in the favor of Detroit. "We've got a short break, but hopefully we can manage to get some guys healthy, get guys back," said Wings goalie Chris Osgood.

Detroit will also have to find a way to contain Crosby and Malkin if they hope to win this series. "Crosby and Malkin are running away with the scoring lead in the playoffs and if we let them continue to run wild, it will be hard for us to win the series," Detroit General manager Ken Holland said, "You can't stop players that good, but we can't let them do what they did against Carolina."

Here are the Hockey betting stats for Saturday's game. The Penguins are 4-0 in their last 4 road games. The Penguins are 28-10 in their last 38 overall. The Penguins are 4-10 in the last 14 meetings between the two teams.

SBG Global Current Line: Red Wings  -  155 ,  Total  5.5 Over  - 125

The Red Wings are 12-3 in their last 15 Stanley Cup Finals games. The Red Wings are 19-7 in their last 26 vs. the Atlantic.

The Over is 4-0 in the Penguins last 4 games as a road underdog. The Over is 6-2-1 in the Penguins last 9 vs. the Central. The Under is 5-1-2 in the Red Wings last 8 Stanley Cup Finals games. The Under is 6-2-2 in the last 10 meetings between the two teams.
