Patriots Just Got Even Better With Brandin Cooks Acquisition

The New England Patriots have traded three picks (3rd, 32nd and 103) to get Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

"I've been praying. I'm just thankful," Cooks told ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Cooks is under contract for 2017 at the bargain rate of $1.56 million, with the Patriots now holding a fifth-year option for about $8.5 million in 2018.

Cooks is coming off back-to-back 1,100-yard seasons.  He also has notched  a total of 17 touchdown catches over the past two years and two of the four longest receptions in the NFL last year (98 yards and 87 yards).

The Patriots were listed as early favorites to win Super Bowl 52 at 4/1 odds.
