Bears Cutler Trade Rumors Heat Up

The Chicago Bears are actively attempting to find a trade partner for their lackluster quarterback Jay Cutler, this according to ESPN's Jeff Darlington.

Under Cutler’s leadership as quarterback, the Bears have gone 12-23 in the last three seasons.  The Bears early odds to win Super Bowl 52 were the fifth longest after the Browns, 49ers, Jets and Rams.

Replacements include backup Matt Barkely, who played well at times during his six starts this past season.  The Bears also have the No. 3 pick in the 2017 draft and could select their franchise quarterback from that pool of players.

The 33-year-old Cutler was limited to just five games this past season due to injuries.  His 78.1 quarterback rating was the second-worst of his career.

Though Cutler signed a seven-year extension in 2014 worth $126.7 million, Mike Florio of NBC Sports is reporting that only the first three years of that deal were guaranteed.
