Missing Teen Not Tied to Illegal Gambling Biz: Step Bro Tried to Burn it Down Though

A missing Spencerport, New York teenager has no ties to an individual arrested last month for his alleged role in an illegal Rochester gambling business.

The local ABC Affiliate WHAM reports that the missing boy, Joshua Redfield, missing since December 7, has a step brother currently serving time for attempting to burn down the gambling establishment.  Authorities say they believe there is some confusion between the two half brothers.

A Rochester man alleged to be tied to the illegal gambling business, Dan Elliott, was arrested last month on weapons and drug charges.

Elliott’s attorney insists his client has no ties to the missing youth.

"I haven't heard anything from the U.S. Attorney's Office; they have the prerogative to move forward with their own charges, but let's hope not," attorney Vincent Merante told 13WHAM News. "I'm here to say and make it perfectly clear, my client has nothing to do with the disappearance of Joshua Redfield."

The FBI also denied any connections.

"The FBI came to us an offered any resources we might need," Chief Mears said. "We don't have any indication of foul play, but we always have to leave that open as a possibility."
