An elderly Nevada couple who jumped from the fifth floor of a casino in a double suicide Wednesday reportedly had financial troubles.
Emi and Glen Yamasaki, both 63, were identified Thursday morning by the Clark County coroner’s office.
The couple was observed arriving at the Silverton Casino’s parking garage on 3333 Blue Diamond Road, parking their vehicle on the fifth floor, climbing onto a wall, then jumping to their deaths. The fifth floor is the highest in the casino.
When approached by the Las Vegas Review Journal, the couple’s daughter Shelli said she had no comment for now and that the family was trying to “sort things out”.
The couple’s financial quandary was highlight by the Review Journal Friday.
These included a recent $15,400 settlement with Discover Card and a financial settlement with a neighbor in the amount of $3000 annually for a total amount of $30,000 paid over ten installments.
The couple in question declined comment though the LVRJ did reach out to other neighbors.
“They just seemed like a very nice couple,” neighbor Jo Lepori said Thursday. “It’s hard to believe they would commit suicide.”
Police were still investigating this matter.
