Heroin and Marijuana Same Thing Claims Nevada Gaming Commission Chair

Recreational pot may now become legal in the state of Nevada beginning January 1 but you won’t be able to smoke it in any of the Silver State’s casinos.

The Nevada Gaming Commission chairman Doctor Tony Alamo claims marijuana is really no different than the more potent and addictive drug, Heroin.

"Should a gaming establishment allow right in the middle of the casino pit, someone to inject themselves intravenously with heroin? The obvious answer is no. Well, heroin and marijuana are in the same category, schedule one drugs," said Alamo.

The Commission argues that, while the state may have legalized Marijuana, the federal government still considers smoking pot and crime.

"We understand the state has passed it but the federal government has not moved," said Alamo. "We cannot allow any of our gaming licensees to knowingly allow a felonious act within their sidewalks."

All casinos will follow the rules set by gaming regulators or risk fines or worse, the loss of gaming licenses.
