Can the New York Giants Miss the 2017 NFL Playoffs? Latest SB 51 Odds

The New York Giants odds of winning Super Bowl 51 were at 17/1 following Thursday night’s loss to the Eagles.  New York could have clinched a Playoff spot but now they are looking at potentially missing the post season.

The First of Nine Pins Fall Preventing New York From Making Playoffs

Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com explained how it could happen:

It’s mathematically possible (but improbable) that the Giants fail to make the playoffs for a fifth straight year after a 24-19 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday. A lot has to happen, though.

Each of These Must Occur or the Giants Are Out of 2017 Playoffs Picture

We may already know by the end of Saturday if the Giants make the Playoffs should one of the following three scenarios fail to come to fruition:

1. The Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday.

2. The Atlanta Falcons win at the Carolina Panthers on Saturday.

3. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers win at the New Orleans Saints on Saturday.

Though only the Bucs are listed as an underdog in their respective game, Monday night’s scenario seems among the least likely to happen in Week 16:

4. The Detroit Lions win at the Dallas Cowboys on Monday.

Next week

5. The Giants lose to the Washington Redskins.

6. The Packers win at Detroit.

7. The Falcons beat the Saints.

8. The Buccaneers beat the Panthers.
