A reputed mobster and convicted killer will be spending the Christmas season behind bars after planning a brazen home invasion he hoped would result in a “great Christmas”.

But the man he told his plans to last month turned out to be a federal informant.

“It will be a great Christmas, I’m telling you. You’re going to love this,” the admitted mobster allegedly told the informant. “Nothing gets my juices flowing like putting a gun to someone’s head, taking their stuff and making it mine.”

Charles “Chucky” Russell, 67, is accused of planning the home invasion, which authorities say would have resulted in a potential $300K pay day.

In a secretly recorded phone conversation with the informant, Russell said he might put a blowtorch to the home owner’s feet to force him to open his safe. But he worried the victim could have a heart attack and die.

He was also caught discussing how the heist would be carried out two days prior to Christmas.

“I always shave my whole f—— body” before a robbery,” Russell said, warning the informant not to spit, sneeze or leave behind any hairs that police could connect to him through DNA testing.

Russell has ties to the Outfit’s Grand Evening crew, based out of Chicago.

He was charged in federal court Thursday with being a felon in possession of firearms.  Russell is also accused of trying to purchase eight guns from an undercover federal agent.  He reportedly told ATF agents and Chicago Police officers “You guys did a really good job”.

The gun case against Russell is the latest effort by the feds to weaken Chicago’s once powerful Italian mob.

Michael Sarno, identified as the alleged, current leader of the Grand Avenue street crew, was once convicted on charges of racketeering and running an illegal gambling operation.
