AFC East - Dolphins vs. Jets Free Pick 2016 Week 15

Week 15 in the NFL will have a slightly different format, as there will be a game on Saturday, which will feature the Miami Dolphins traveling to New York to face their divisional rivals the Jets, kickoff is scheduled for 8:25 PM ET at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New York.

Not sure which teams is more elated, the Jets who will be home playing against a team who just lost their starting quarterback, or the Dolphins, who having lost Ryan Tannehill due to a knee injury in week 14 will play against one of the weakest teams in the AFC which could keep their dreams of a post-season start alive.

Tannehill went down during the third quarter of Sundayís game against the Cardinals after defensive end Calais Campbell hit him in the leg. Preliminary reports indicated that Tannehill had suffered a torn ACL which would mean not only that he would be out for the season, but he would require surgery and extensive rehab. This has turned out not to be the case, on Monday, Coach Adam Gase during a press conference said Tannehill had a sprained ACL/MCL. While this is not great, as a sprain is after all a partial tear, it does mean that no surgery is required at this time. Nobody is sure if Tannehill will return to the field this season, but some speculate that a week 17 or a post-season return could be possible.

Veteran Matt Moore will front in center for the Miami Dolphins on Sunday and possibly the remainder of the season. Moore passed for 47 yards completing 3 out of 5 passes on Sunday after taking the field on Sunday against the Cardinals. Not having their starting quarterback will translate to additional work for running back Jay Ajayi and the Miami backfield, currently ranked 13th in the NFL with 109.3 rushing yards per game.

The Jets are somewhat of a puzzle, although they have one of the best rushing defense in the league, you wouldnít have though so if the only game of theirs you watch this season was last weeks against the 49ers, sure they won the game (which was expected) but they allowed San Franciscoís running back Carolos Hyde to rip them apart and get 193 rushing yards.

This opens a lot of doors for the Dolphins, who are expected to get Moore to throw often, the Jets have a mediocre pass defense, ranked at 26th allowing an average of 223.0 passing yards per game this season. So, if Moore can connect down field and the Jets rushing defense performs as badly as they did against the 49ers then Miami will win this game hands down.

Having said that, the Jets will take advantage of Miamiís misfortunes including their rushing defense which is certainly one of their weakest links, ranked at No. 30 in the NFL with 133.8 yards allowed per game. Running Back Bilal Powell is expected to carry the backfield again this week; he got 145 rushing yards and two touchdowns last week. Quarterback Bryce Petty will need to step up his game, last week he passed for 257 yards with no touchdowns and an interception.

Per www.AceSporsbook.com, the Miami Dolphins are 2.5 point favorites, considering the situation both teams are in now, this seems like a fair line. The value clearly lies with the Dolphins as they only need to win by a field goal.
