Falcons vs. Eagles 2016 Week 10 Betting Preview

At the start of the season, this game seemed a lot more exciting than it currently does, both teams were on everyoneís list of post season contenders, while this is still true for the Atlanta Falcons, things are looking more and more difficult for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Falcons are the NFC South leaders with a record of 6-3 after winning back to back contests, they will be looking for a 3-game winning streak this Sunday before getting their much-deserved bye week, but to do that they first need to beat the Eagles at home.

In line with what everyone believed, the Eagles got to a great start this season with rookie quarterback Carson Wentz, and while Wentz is still playing a high-level game his weapons simply arenít there. I am somewhat dismayed by the criticism Wentz has been subjected to as of late, letís get one thing straight, he is not the problem people. The real problem the Eagles face is that Wentz canít find anyone down the field and therefore he is forced to continuously throw short passes.

In contrast, Matt Ryan has been able to throw the ball all over the field with great success, sometimes he seems to be unstoppable. The Falcons offense has been extremely effective this year, both against good and not so good defenses. The Eagles defensive lineup has struggled a little lately, against an offensive powerhouse like the one Atlanta has, it might be difficult for them to stop players like wide receiver Julio Jones.

Difficult maybe, but not impossible, after all the Philadelphia Eagles are only allowing an average of 18.1 points per game, that is the 6th fewest in the league, this means that Matty Ice and Co. most likely wonít be able to steamroll past the Eagles defense.

As good as the Falcons offense is, their weak point is defense, always has been really, which could open a door for Wentz and his offense. The reality is, the Eagles can only hope to hold Matt Ryan and stop Julio Jones in his tracks not allowing them to score as much as we all know they can, and hopefully manage to get past the weak defense and outscore the Falcons.

It is not common to see a team that had a great start and was expected to be in the post season, to end up being dogs at home, yet this is the case this week, www.AceSportsbook.com current odds on the game have the Falcons as 2-point road favorites and the total is at 49.5 which is not surprising, this should end up being a high scoring game.

Philadelphia desperately needs this win, they are currently 4-4 after losing 4 of their last 5 games, I just donít know if their offense can recoup enough to outscore the Falcons formidable offense, the game will be close, and it will be exciting to watch of that I have no doubt.

Game Prediction:

Winner: Atlanta Falcons

Total: Over 49.5

Predicted Final Score: 33-27

DR Congo has 1 point and likely needs a win to have a realistic shot at advancing as a third-place team. Uzbekistan has 0 points and must win to stay alive. A draw probably eliminates Uzbekistan and likely does very little for DR Congo.
