Nebraska Football Win Totals Odds 2016: Huskers, Nebraska Nation

How will the Nebraska Huskers fare in 2016?  Good enough according to the oddsmakers that they have cracked the mid-tier level with 55-1 odds of winning the 2016 National Championship.

More so though we like their wins total odds at OVER 8.5 and priced at -135.

Nebraska finished a dismal 6-7 Straight Up and an okay 7-6 Against The Spread but this year promises to be different.

From Athlon Sports:

Nebraska lost seven games in Mike Riley’s first season, something that last happened in 2007. But four of the losses were by three or fewer points and the first was a result of a Hail Mary pass. So 6–7 was closer to the consistent nine-win seasons of Riley’s predecessor, Bo Pelini, than it might seem, without the personal meltdowns that became an embarrassment.

Riley’s engaging personality and his aggressive approach to recruiting have bought him time. And despite a schedule with the toughest Big Ten opponents on the road, there’s optimism in Lincoln. Eight wins would seem reasonable. If the breaks were to go Nebraska’s way, and given the weaker division, the Huskers could reach the Big Ten title game.

Just how big of a fan base do the Huskers have?

Just ask our own Special Contributor Tony George…or the NY Times:

After retiring from a 25-year stint in which he coached the Cornhuskers to 307 wins, two national championships and never (!) fewer than nine wins in a season, Tom Osborne represented one of the largest House districts in the country. Minus an eastern section that includes Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska's Third Congressional District covers the state. Judging from the map, Osborne, a Republican, has a lot of fans in the eastern part of the state too. The size of Nebraska Nation may be exaggerated by some sparsely populated zones in Wyoming and South Dakota, but the Huskers also claim some allegiance in the states of their old Big 8 rivals Colorado and Missouri.
