The Cougars are a +11.5 to +12 point underdog depending on the book.

The Sooners have the 7th shortest odds of winning the National Championship title at 12-1.

Houston, one of the top candidates outside the Power 5 to crash the playoff party after a 13-1 season capped with a New Year's Eve destruction of Florida State, no longer looks at itself as the underdog, notes Stats LLC.

They were at 45-1 to win the National Championship game and the 1-3 favorite to win the AAC West division.

The Sooners are 0-4 Against The Spread in their last 4 neutral site games.

Houston as a +12 dog is a hard concept to fathom considering they managed to go 13-1 last year and enjoyed a Chick-fil-A Bowl win over Florida State.

Five starters return on defense, but the secondary is a concern after the departure of three key performers.

Athlon Sports writes of Oklahoma’s high hopes for 2016:

Another run at the College Football Playoff and a Big 12 title is certainly within reach for Oklahoma. The Sooners return 12 starters from last year’s 11-2 team, including Heisman Trophy candidate Baker Mayfield and talented running backs Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon. Replacing Sterling Shepard and rebuilding the line are the biggest concern on offense for coordinator Lincoln Riley. Scoring points won’t be a problem for the Sooners, but there are concerns on defense after the departure of end Charles Tapper, linebacker Eric Striker and cornerback Zack Sanchez.

Action was balanced fort this game.
