Poker Pro Vanessa Selbst: ‘It’s Hard to Say Whether Trump is the Actual Devil’
  • Possibility that Donald Trump doesn’t even really want to be President, PokerListings suggests
  • If Trump gets elected “there’s a decent chance the world just explodes”
  • Regarding Trump, Selbst says, “It’s hard to say whether he’s the actual devil or if he’s just playing this game not to ever become president but to boost his business.”
  • Trump has his supporters in the poker community and once even had pro Annie Duke among the finalists in his NBC reality series “Celebrity Apprentice”

In an interview with PokerListings.com Wednesday, poker’s most successful female player and one of the first openly gay, Vanessa Selbst, expressed apprehension at the prospects of a Donald Trump Presidency.

PokerListings.com, which is based out of Europe and Canada, notes:

If you're a European, for example, it seems absurd the US presidential campaigns have ended up with the two candidates who seem to be the least desired.

And that's not even delving into the distinct possibility one of them doesn't even really want to be President - he might just be trying to negotiate a bigger TV deal.”

Though Selbst suggests that the Republicans tend to have a more “hands off” approach when it comes to legalizing online poker, she is leaning towards the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

“If I had to make a choice I’d say Hillary Clinton, mainly because if Trump gets elected there’s a decent chance that the world just explodes,” she stated.

She added of Trump: “It’s hard to say whether he’s the actual devil or if he’s just playing this game not to ever become president but to boost his business.”

Despite Selbst’s initial support for Clinton’s primary opponent, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, she agrees he may not have been the best to take on Hillary.

“Bernie just wasn’t the best candidate. It felt like he was just a shouting, old Grandpa with a heavy Brooklyn accent and you were afraid he could die any second.”

Trump does have his supporters in the poker community, including Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, who regularly posts the latest Hillary Clinton conspiracy theory on his popular Twitter feed.

Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” famously featured female poker pro Annie Duke duking it out with fellow finalist, the late comedienne Joan Rivers, who once apologized to Adolf Hitler for comparing Ms. Duke to him.
