What We Like: The OVER is 12-5 in the last 17 meetings between these two clubs though just half of the last ten meetings have gone OVER the current number.
Danny Duffy, starting Tuesday, has allowed just 30 hits on 135 at bats versus the current Tigers lineup with six homers over that span.
Duffy is 9-1 (2.82 ERA) so far this season. He’s allowed more than two runs in only one of his last nine starts. Five of his last seven starts have resulted in seven or fewer runs scored.
On Monday, the Royals start Ian Kennedy, who is trying to snap an eight-start winless streak and has been much stronger of late.
The Royals are 2-9 in their last 11 games vs. a left-handed starter, on Monday facing LH Daniel Norris (1-0, 4.00).
What We Don’t Like: Despite Duffy’s stellar numbers against this current lineup, the opposing starting pitcher at home, Justin Verlander, is coming off a no-decision despite allowing just one run his last start pitching deep into the 7th.
The Royals are just 4-11 in their last 15 games following a win.
Neither team is playing particularly good ball at this time.
