They were at 10-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl, 5-1 to win their conference and the -260 favorite to win their respective division, the NFC South.  Carolina was a -125 favorite to win OVER 10.5 regular season games in 2016.

The Panthers went 15-1 last year but ultimately the season was considered a failure because the team lost in the Super Bowl to the Denver Broncos. Carolina figures to be weaker on defense in 2016 without Josh Norman who is now in Washington and the offense figures to take a step back after overachieving a year ago.

The Panthers didn’t make any major additions and they will have a tougher schedule in 2016 with games against Seattle, Arizona and Denver and the Panthers will get a lot more attention with five prime-time games and that means more pressure.

History has shown that losing Super Bowl teams often times struggle the following season but the NFC South is weak so even if the Panthers slip a little bit they should still contend for the NFC South title in 2016.

DR Congo has 1 point and likely needs a win to have a realistic shot at advancing as a third-place team. Uzbekistan has 0 points and must win to stay alive. A draw probably eliminates Uzbekistan and likely does very little for DR Congo.
