Don’t look now but the Chicago Cubs have just lost eight of their last nine games including four straight. The All Star Break cannot come any sooner.

A three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates looked like the perfect remedy as the Cubs have gone 7-1 in the last 8 meetings in Pittsburgh and 10-2 in the last 12 meetings.

Maybe there’s nothing wrong with this team that won’t ultimately be fixed by Dexter Fowler and Jorge Soler returning from injuries, suggests Ian Castleberry of TheComeBack.com.

Remarkably, since Fowler landed on the DL, the Cubs now have the 2nd worst record in the National League.

The Cubs were listed around a -170 favorite to win on the road in Pittsburgh.  We trust few bettors will bite in the midst of this rough patch.

On Sunday, Chicago will start John Lackey, who has stumbled against the current Pirates lineup, allowing 36 hits off of 112 at bats with four home runs for a .321 average.

Chris Paddack Player Prop Bets

Paddack recorded 10 strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Monday in a win over the White Sox. Prior to that start, Paddack was obliterated by the Orioles, allowing nine runs on 12 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Zach Eflin Player Prop Bets

Zach Eflin has great value in fantasy leagues for the April 26 game against the lowly Chicago White Sox.  Betting on Eflin and the Tampa Bay Rays might make sense if not for the -210 price tag.

Trevor Williams Player Prop Bets

The Nats Trevor Williams held the Astros to one run with four strikeouts across six innings in a no-decision on Saturday.  And the betting public was eating him up at a near 80% clip.
