The struggling Chicago White Sox were looking for a four game sweep on the road in Boston and a possible 6 win recharge in their last ten games overall.

Shields has surrendered a total of 21 earned runs and 24 hits in 8 2/3 innings since joining Chicago and is an abysmal 2-9 with a 5.42 ERA in 13 starts at Fenway Park.
It should be no surprise that Boston is a -245 home favorite here despite the three-game skid against the White Sox.
Porcello, meanwhile, is 10-8 with a 4.09 ERA in 21 career starts against the White Sox.
