Kansas City, MO - Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City will host the nationally televised Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) April 8-18. Hundreds of hopeful players will check, raise and fold their way toward life-changing money when HPT visits the property for the fourth time since 2014.

A variety of tournaments will take place each day of the series with buy-ins starting at just $35. The series will launch with a two-day $350 event anticipated to draw more than 400 entries. HPT's signature tournament is the $1,650 nationally televised Main Event, scheduled for the weekend of April 15. Those interested can parlay their way into the Main Event through daily $200 and $375 qualifiers.

Poker enthusiasts who come out to take part in HPT events run the gamut. An exterminator, a painting contractor and a surgeon were among those to score six-figure paydays through HPT in 2015. Business management employee, Justin Young, won a $375 qualifier through Kansas City Sports Radio 810 WHB in August. The local man went on to turn that free seat into a fifth-place finish in the Ameristar Kansas City Main Event for more than $25,500.

The Ameristar Casino Hotel is conveniently located just minutes from downtown Kansas City. The spacious 140,000 square-foot casino is home to the most games in the Kansas City area as well one of the largest poker rooms in the Midwest. In addition to seven dining venues, Ameristar Kansas City boasts an 18-screen movie theater, a supervised children's entertainment center and a video arcade.

The full-service hotel has 184 rooms, including 36 mini and 12 king suites. The property is offering discounted room rates to guests coming in for the HPT series. To book one of the limited rooms for as low as $89, visit Ameristar.com/Kansas-City or call 816-414-7000 and mention code HPTAKC.

Spectators are welcome to sit in on the taping of the Final Table Monday, April 18, during which the final nine competitors will gather under the bright lights to play down to a champion in front of 16 HD cameras. The footage from that table will be turned into two hour-long episodes and aired to a national audience a few months later.

HPT is off to a great start in 2016 with its first two land-based events amassing a combined $2 million in Main Event prize pool money. Those interested in playing in the April 8-18 series at Ameristar Kansas City can find schedule details and pre-registration information by visiting HPTpoker.com.
