Stan Wawrinka had opened at 12/1 to win the Australian Open 2016 but that price had dropped to 8/1 at some books by Friday.

The fourth seed and 2014 champion was given a thorough workout before beating 37-year-old Radek Stepanek 6-2 6-3 6-4 to advance to the third round of the Australian Open on Thursday.

"Really happy," the 30-year-old said. "It was a good match in general. Three sets win against Stepanek."
