The Hornets vs. Raptors betting line for New Year’s Day had Charlotte as an enticing +7 underdog at some books, having gone 7-1 Against The Spread in Toronto over the past eight road games of this series.  Charlotte has won seven of the last nine in the series Straight Up.

This trend comes as Charlotte is playing some of its best basketball in years, currently maintaining a 17-14 Straight Up record while going .500 Against The Spread.  Toronto continues its winning ways, going 20-13 SU so far this season.

Another interesting trend of note: Toronto is 13-0 when holding opponents under 100 points and 0-7 when allowing 100 or more in the last 20 games.

We would be remiss in failing to point out that Charlotte is in a bit of a slump of late, winning only three of their last nine games and allowing the Los Angeles Clippers to shoot 52.1 percent from the field in a 122-117 loss on Wednesday.

“Lack of communication,” Charlotte guard Kemba Walker told reporters of the defensive struggles. “We just have to have the right mindset and talk to each other so we can get stops.”
