Suns vs. Mavs Betting Line December 14

Carrie Stroup here with your Suns vs. Mavs betting line for Monday night  Dallas -4.0, Total: 209

PHOENIX SUNS (11-14) at DALLAS MAVERICKS (13-11)

The suddenly revived Suns will be going for their fourth win in five games when they face the Mavericks in Dallas on Monday.

Phoenix looked miserable towards the end of November and first week of December, but the team has turned things around recently. The Suns defeated the Timberwolves 108-101 on Sunday and have now won three of their past four games. Yet, they do have to play a Mavericks team that beat them 111-95 on Oct. 28.

This isn’t the same confident Mavericks bunch, though. Dallas has lost two straight games and seven of its past 11 and will be looking to get back on track against a Phoenix team that it knows it can beat.

Over the past three seasons, the Mavericks are 2-1 SU when hosting the Suns. Phoenix is 3-0 ATS in those games and 6-2 ATS in its last eight games overall in this series. One thing favoring Phoenix heading into this game is the fact that the team is 28-14 ATS in road games when playing a team with a winning record over the past three seasons. What doesn’t trend in the Suns’ favor is the fact that they are just 2-10 ATS against teams that attempt less than 24 free throws per game this season.

The Suns have seemingly found their groove and one guy who has really stepped up for the team is PF Jon Leuer (8.4 PPG, 5.4 RPG). Phoenix has been desperate for some consistent production at the power forward position and Leuer is averaging 12.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.0 BPG and 1.0 SPG over the past five contests. His ability to shoot has helped space the floor and he should continue to help PG Eric Bledsoe (22.3 PPG, 6.5 APG, 4.2 RPG, 2.0 SPG) operate. Bledsoe is averaging 27.0 PPG over the past two contests and is one of the toughest defensive assignments in the league this season. He really knows how to get to the basket and should have a lot of success against a slower group of Mavericks guards.

SG Brandon Knight (20.7 PPG, 5.4 APG, 4.4 RPG) should also be able to find success against Dallas. Knight shook off a miserable outing against the Blazers on Dec. 11 (0-for-12 FG, 0-for-8 3PT) to pour in 25 points against the Timberwolves on Sunday.

The Mavericks have lost two straight games, but they’ll now face a Suns team that they pounded earlier in the season. PG Raymond Felton (9.1 PPG, 3.5 APG) was actually the star of that game for Dallas, finishing with 18 points, six assists and four rebounds in 33 minutes of action. He could see plenty of time on the court if PG Deron Williams (15.3 PPG, 6.0 APG, 3.3 RPG, 1.3 SPG) is unable to play. Williams has been sick and is questionable coming into this one. Even if he does play, he may be a bit tired and rusty after missing Saturday’s game against Washington.

SG Wes Matthews (13.2 PPG, 3.1 RPG) is somebody that is going to need to step up for Dallas. He is on fire lately and is coming off of a 28-point game against the Wizards. Matthews is averaging 19.2 PPG over the past five contests and his Achilles is starting to look stronger and stronger.

When the notification came across the phone from Shams Charania that the Milwaukee Bucks had signed Myles Turner to a four-year contract, initial instinct was there must be more because the Bucks can’t fit him under the salary cap as a free agent.
