The Internet Gaming Council (IGC) has been mighty busy in the last two years.  Since 2006, when it spent a mere quarter million dollars lobbying the online gambling industry, the IGC has come close to spending $3.5 million in just the past two years.  Gambling911.com can reveal that the total lobbying efforts in 2008 alone were $2.0 million.

The biggest spenders among the IGC was the Miami-based law firm of Greenberg Traurig, which shelled out $600,000 for the IGC in 2008.

Previous to 2007, Greenberg Traurig was the only law firm affiliated with the Internet Gaming Council.  Since this time, a dozen other groups, many of them law firms, have joined forces with the IGC.

The Raben Group also contributed around $200,000 in 2008 to the IGC cause. The Washington, DC-based firm focuses on policy development, direct lobbying, coalition building , grasstops campaigns, political counsel and strategic communications.
