In ongoing contract negotiations, it is being reported that New York Giants starting quarterback Eli Manning is seeking to become the highest paid player in the NFL.

Giants owner John Mara has said that he hopes to have his franchise quarterback signed by the start of the season or soon after. His contract is set to expire by the season’s end. He is scheduled to make $17 million in base salary this season.

NFL Network reports a "significant gap" remains between the team and Manning in negotiations.

Currently, the highest paid player is the Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers, making $22 million.

Current odds on the New York Giants have them winning UNDER 8.5 regular season games in 2015 with a price of -145.

They are listed at 4/1 odds of winning the NFC East.
