Son-In-Law of Late Mobster John Gotti Indicted on Charges of Racketeering
The son-in-law of late Mob kingpin John Gotti was formerly indicted over the weekend for his alleged role in a $4.2 million scrap metal processing fraud.
Carmine Agnello, who was once married to Gotti’s daughter, had been arrested last month but not indicted until this past Friday.
The 18-month investigation suggests that Agnello’s operation crushed stolen cars and filled them with dirt.
"His nickname is 'The Bull,'" Cleveland Police Deputy Chief Ed Tomba said during a news conference of Agnello. "This guy was out on the lot every single day," adding that "he stuck out."
He was charged with environmental crimes stemming from evidence authorities found when they searched the property, including open dumping, contaminating Ohio's waterways with industrial waste and opening a tire storage facility without applying for a permit.
Agnello previously served time in prison in New York for similar crimes.
