After Thursday night’s first GOP 2016 Presidential debate, real estate mogul and reality star Donald Trump continued to come in with short 5-1 odds of being nominated the Republican candidate. Only Jeb Bush (2-1) and Scott Walker (4-1) had shorter odds.
At Thursday’s debate, Trump refused to pledge his support for any other Republican nominee while indicating he could seek to run as an Independent. He also picked a fight with Fox News anchor and debate moderator Megyn Kelly after she questioned him over past derogatory comments about women. Trump later said in an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon that Kelly “had blood coming out of her eyes, coming out of wherever”. Many took this to mean that the real estate magnate was implying Kelly had been on her period during the debate questioning.
A new poll suggests Trump’s comments have done little to hurt his campaign. According to the latest NBC News Online Poll conducted by SurveyMonkey conducted over 24 hours from Friday evening into Saturday, Trump remained on top of the list at 23 percent. Interestingly enough, Senator Ted Cruz was next on the list with 13 percent.
