San Jose, Costa Rica – Another landmark weekend at Americas Cardroom is in the books. The US-facing online poker site wrapped up its latest edition of the Million Dollar Sunday with 1,939 total entrants. Poker player ‘Ra1syDa1sy’ conquered the tournament to secure the first place prize of $200,000 and become the third player this year to win a $1 million GTD tournament at Americas Cardroom.
"We'd normally make a big deal about our latest $1 million guaranteed winner, but the truth is it's just another Sunday at Americas Cardroom and that's a good thing,” said Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. “The Million Dollar Sunday is increasing in frequency and it's only a matter of time before this becomes a weekly event. Congrats to ‘Ra1syDa1sy’ and we look forward to crowning more winners very soon.”
While popular among US residents, the Million Dollar Sunday also saw players from all corners of the globe, including Canada, Costa Rica, United Kingdom and Australia.
The Million Dollar Sunday has become one of Americas Cardroom's most popular poker tournaments thanks to its $1 million guarantee and $200,000 first place prize. The always-anticipated poker tournament continues to attract more and more players with each installment. Americas Cardroom first launched the $1 million online poker tournament earlier this year, bringing back the glory days of poker to the United States. Prior to the introduction of the Million Dollar Sunday, it had been almost four years since US poker players saw a Sunday million dollar poker tournament.
Today, a Sunday million-dollar tournament in the United States is commonplace thanks to Americas Cardroom's commitment to giving players what they want. And players won't have to wait long for the next one.
$5 Million Dollars Guaranteed
Yesterday’s tournament came with a huge announcement. In a live stream, Americas Cardroom CEO Phil Nagy announced the upcoming $5 Million GTD promotion. Over a period of six weeks this fall, the US facing poker room will host five individual Million Dollar Sunday tournaments. The tournaments fall on September 13th, October 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th.
